SOME YEARS AGO there appeared a book that caused a sensation. It was The Unobstructed Universe. It had a tremendous sale, which was good, because it awakened people to the fact that the universe is not what it appears to be. Religions through the ages have been trying to tell us that. And, in the last 50 years, our experts in physics have been telling us that it is not all that it appears to be.
We are in an unobstructive universe. We are not only in an unobstructed universe, but we are also unobstructed people who are temporarily obstructed by the projections of our own minds. I am absolutely convinced that I exist in a universe that is the operation of my mind. Most people believe that the manifest universe is something that they must work against in order to achieve success. I do not believe that. I believe that the present universe is as easy to manipulate as my personal affairs are. I can walk out of church this morning and decide where I want to eat, what street I might like to walk on, and what I want to do the rest of this day. I am in charge of my personal affairs. Seemingly, there are conditions over which I do not have domination. But, the thing that I believe controls me, is something I am unconsciously letting control me, because I do not understand it.
The Universe is an unlimited system, and there is no reason why you, as an individual, are not an unlimited individual. You may say, "The great spiritual minds have been able to do phenomena that I cannot do." Usually, you pick out the exaggerated reports we have of great spiritual personalities and say, "These people could do it, but I can't." Unconsciously, you believe that these people have a special quality that you do not have.
One of the basic teachings of the Science of Mind is that the Universe, by its very nature, can never play favorites. The Universe must be an impartial expression of an all-knowing Intelligence. By its very unity and cohesiveness it indicates that it gives of itself to all. As a Universe it never restricts anyone. Thus, all limitation is self-limitation.
